A Interview With A Artist BY :INFINITY: CYDONIA Back in the mid 80's, Coolcat was known as one of the best and well respected Australian graphicians the country has ever seen Times have changed since then and he's been in the dark for too long, but now he's back all fired up again to kick start the Oz Scene again into overdrive Here in a very EXCLUSIVE interview for the very first time, Coolcat reveals all Well alomst :-) ProFile HANDLER: CoOLCAT! AGE: 25!! COMPUTER: Amiga 1200 4mb Fast 030, 882 both running at 33mhz GROUP: ~'CYdONiA`~ WHEN DID YOU START DRAWING ON THE AMIGA? About 1986 WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE AN AMIGA? It was the best at the time, i had a C64 which i sold and i didn't like the PC's WOULD YOU EVER SELL YOUR AMIGA AND BUY A PC? No I'd have both, i would never leave the amiga WHY NOT? The amiga's operating system etc is far superior, i prefer to use them WHICH DRAWING PROGRAM DO YOU USE MOSTLY? Different ones, but mainly the old classic (Slow) Dpaint IV (v46) i have v5 tho WHAT FORMER GROUPS WERE YOU INVOLVED IN BEFORE JOINING CYDONIA? Lots! About 30 or so since i got into computers (C64 scene etc) I sorta really only did gfx for most groups didn't always join WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE CURRENT STATE OF THE AUSTRALIAN SCENE? It seems slow at the moment WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE AMIGA ARTIST? Hmm man thats hard Mack? Peachy? Ra? 2 many good artist's even ~'CYdONiA`~ has cool GFX dudes IN YOUR OWN WORDS, SUMMARISE THE FOLLOWING GRAPHICIANS IN OZ This can get me into trouble Souri Good, Gets better all the time Wiz of Oz Not bad, he kinda left the scene Was good 4 back then Siggy (999) Not bad either never got really good tho Havent seen much Kimba Not bad havent seen 2 much of his GFX Psyche Same as above ^ Infinity Good getting better Sumaleth Very good what i have seen, that is Terminator Have not seen much Repo Same as above^ Gothic Quite good aswell Bass Have not seen much of his work Snykers Have not seen much, but looks good, he will get better Drift Good Dizz Good NAME THE 3 BEST ARTIST CURRENTLY TODAY IN AUSTRALIA Hehe do i include myself? NAME THE 3 BEST ARTIST'S OVERSEAS Cougar, Facet Same as b4 HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE SCENE SO FAR? nearly 11 yrs YOU'VE DONE ALOT OF LOGOS FOR OVERSEAS GROUPS WHICH LOGOS ARE YOU PROUD OF? At the time i was proud of a phenomena logo i did 4 Tyger, it was good at the time probably the SKiD RoW logo and the ACceSsioN one the SLaM wasn't bad either WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR IDEAS FROM? Anywhere, my head, something i may have seen a combination of a few thoughts of inspiration whilst being stoned WHAT FEATURES WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE IN DPAINT/PPAINT OR BRILLANCE THAT YOU THINK IS VITAL FOR ALL ARTIST'S? Hmm Speed more FX more undo's etc WHAT DO YOU THINK OF ESCOM BEING THE NEW OWNERS OF THE AMIGA? Not sure they don't seem 2 care much but they were shocked by the efficient small Operating System Hopefully they they will use their power But it probably won't be that much diff in many ways WOULD YOU LIKE TO SAY ANYTHING ELSE BEFORE WE END THIS INTERVIEW?
